Silk is one of the finest and most luxurious fibers in the world. It is a purely natural protein fiber produced by spinning and weaving the fibers from the cocoon of silkworms. Unlike synthetic fibers, which are made from petroleum-based products, silk is biodegradable and renewable and thus considered as an environmentally-friendly material. Its temperature regulating, anti-static, soft, delicate and shiny properties always give an elegant appearance and feel light on your skin.

Despite its positive qualities, silk also has its drawbacks, one of which involves extracting silk from cocoons through a boiling process. The alternative to conventional silk is peace silk, but so far we have not yet found peace silk that is of high enough quality to use effectively.

For our silk scarves, we only source certified organic silk according to the Global Organic Textile standard which is spun, dyed, woven and hand rolled at Lake Como in Italy, the European Capital of silk.
