About the Brand
When we as a society no longer wear our clothes, we often throw them away. But there is no such thing as away.
Too often, discarded clothing means that valuable resources are lost or that garments end up in places where they can contribute to environmental pollution and negatively affect people, animals and ecosystems. If we as a society want to reduce textile waste, we need to think about waste before it is created.
And that starts with design.
The decisions made at the design stage influence how long a product can be worn, whether it can be repaired or reused, and what can happen to its materials at the end of its useful life.
Our vision is a fashion industry in which resources remain in circulation for as long as possible and products are designed to be loved and worn for years.
At LOTTA LUDWIGSON, we believe that the choices we make at the design stage matter. That's why we create modern business attire that combines modern tailoring, craftsmanship, thoughtfully selected natural materials and transparency across our supply chain – pieces designed to be worn, valued and loved for years.
Do we really need another clothing brand?
Both yes and no.
We believe that the fashion industry doesn’t need more of the same. But it needs brands that ask different questions, rethink the way business is done and carefully consider the choices they make - from design, craftsmanship to material selection and transparency.
We need brands that create products people want to wear again and again. We need brands that empower people to wear their values. And we need brands that are not only rethinking how fashion is designed, but also how fashion businesses create value and define success.
You might wonder why business attire and not streetstyle?
Our journey started with a simple question: Why did business attire often seem so boring and stiff?
Much of the businesswear we encountered was shaped by traditional ideas of professional dressing. Black, navy and grey seemed to be the only colors available, while modern, colourful and feminine options were surprisingly hard to find.
We believed women shouldn't have to choose between being taken seriously and expressing their personality. Professional clothing should feel empowering - not like a uniform that makes you disappear into the crowd.
So we set out to create business attire by women, for women: thoughtful pieces with modern tailoring, vibrant colours and exceptional craftsmanship - designed to celebrate individuality, confidence and femininity in the workplace and beyond.
Hi, I am Charlotte.
I founded LOTTA LUDWIGSON out of a simple frustration: I couldn't find business attire that reflected all the wonderful modern, confident women I saw around me.
I believe women shouldn't have to choose between looking what is considered “professional” and feeling like themselves.
As more women have stepped into leadership, entrepreneurship and decision-making roles, one thing has changed surprisingly little: what we're expected to wear. For decades, business attire has largely been shaped by conventions rooted in a male-dominated corporate world decades ago, where black, navy and grey became the norm.
I wanted to rethink business attire - designing pieces by women, for women. Modern tailoring, timeless silhouettes, vibrant colours and exceptional craftsmanship come together to celebrate individuality without compromising professionalism.
Every piece starts with the same question: Would I genuinely love wearing this for years to come? That question guides every decision we make - from design and craftsmanship to material choices and transparency across our supply chain.
I'm inspired by traditional textile know-how, art, architecture and culture, and especially by all the remarkable women who challenge conventions, lead with confidence, promote sisterhood and redefine what (self-)leadership looks like.
“Where does your name come from?” “Who is Lotta?” “Is Ludwigson really your last name”? “Do you have some Scandinavian roots?” are just a few of the most frequently asked questions regarding our brand name.
The answer is short and sweet: none of us is really called Lotta Ludwigson. However, the name expresses on many levels what we stand for and what we aim to create: aesthetic and responsible business attire that empowers women.
Charlotte, who had the idea of a suit label already back in 2019, was living in Denmark and Italy at the time. In Italy she learned everything about aesthetics, art and textiles, while in Copenhagen she learned everything about the circular economy, next-gen materials and social entrepreneurship. These two worlds were to merge in both Lotta (from the Italian name Carlotta) and the Scandinavian-inspired Ludwigson: Aesthetics and responsible entrepreneurship combined and translated into colorful elegance and feminine power - this is what LOTTA LUDWIGSON stands for.
Who is Ludwig then?
Ludwig was Charlotte's 106-year-old grandfather, a lifelong incorrigible optimist who always believed that the world could be changed for the better. A way of thinking that we have internalized and that drives us at LOTTA LUDWIGSON day by day.
A great suit is an investment piece - and we believe it should be chosen with care.
That's why we invite you to experience our garments in person. If you are in Berlin, you are welcome to book a private appointment at our showroom in Prenzlauer Berg to see, feel and try on our collection.
